Welcome to the library
“My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love,so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Col 2:2-3
Our Purpose: The West Shore Free Church library exists to promote the truth of Jesus Christ and a desire to grow in faith through the joy of reading. Our commitment to knowing the glory of the Lord—in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge—is evident in the library’s vast collection of books, CDs, DVDs, and other media. Spanning every genre and style, and all from Christian authors and publishers, the library’s treasure trove of materials will indeed inspire, educate, and entertain readers of all backgrounds and interests.
Our Services: Before hitting the shelves, each new library acquisition undergoes a thorough screening, cataloging, covering, and data entry process by a dedicated library coordinator and a steady team of volunteers who ensure that the subject matter proclaims and promotes God’s intention for the families and individuals of our church. Much like the public library system, books and other materials are checked out for a two-week period (with the exception of AV materials which are loaned out for one week) and can be returned either at the library’s front desk or via the convenient book-drop slot. The library does not charge fines for overdue materials and will send friendly, late-notice reminders to patrons who hold church mailboxes.
Our Offerings: Please visit the new computer located on the center table in the library’s main aisle. The computer holds a fully-equipped, searchable catalog of the library’s 10,000+ holdings. Or ask a librarian about the vast array of titles suitable for all age levels and interests, including a special section of FREE books and media.
We welcome donations of new and gently-used books, CDs, DVDs, and even VHS movies, that are either written by Christian authors or distributed by Christian publishers. To contribute please contact Library Coordinator Lisa Gregory.
