‘Shoresh’

Finding the Roots of Christian Faith
By Laurie M. Brown

Have you dreamed of Becoming like Jesus? Then join David Miller, Messiah College Bible teacher and international church planter, for Shoresh (Hebrew:
meaning 'root')—a journey into the land of Israel that provides Biblical teachings in their original context.

David, who holds a Masters in Hebrew Language from Jerusalem University College, says the 35 people who participate in the 2012 teaching tour of Israel will  learn how Jesus, his disciples, and followers lived when Jesus walked the earth. “It’s a reality shift into what first century life was like,” describes David.  “My goal is that we have much more than the quickly fading emotional experience of ‘walking where Jesus walked.’ Rather, that we come away with life-changing, new perspectives on the Bible,” says Miller who has attended West Shore with his wife Deborah since 2005.

What does that really mean?

  1. An in-depth, contextual interpretation of NT teachings.
  2. An open venue for the Holy Spirit to work in each individual’s life.
  3. A willingness to embrace new ideas and have fun!

Living and working as a licensed tour guide in Israel for more than a decade, David came to understand how important having a contextual understanding of the New Testamentt is to fully comprehending the life of Christ and its practical implications for every day Christians.  “The Gospels take place in a first century Jewish world,” says David.  “And understanding that world, the life and teachings of Jesus from a first-hand perspective, changes the lives of our participants … forever.”

David’s plan is to bring those Gospels to life in an 11-day teaching tour of Israel slated for October 12-24, 2012. The trip, coordinated by MTS Travel Agency, will visit such sites as Capernaum, the Sea of Galilee, Jerusalem, the Dead Sea and others.  Interested parties should contact David Miller at keyteachingresources@gmail.com for details and pricing.  Deposits, at this time, are refundable.
