Hello Friend
New friends are always welcome at West Shore! On these pages, you will learn about us and what you can expect during your first visit to our campus. What is more important is that we learn about you. Join in, take what others can give, give what you can offer, and together, let us walk with Christ.
Also, we'd love to hear from you. Please don't hesitate to let us know how we can help you connect with others at the church.
By some standards, West Shore is considered a large church, but you'd be surprised by how much we all know and love one another around here. We cherish the relationships that fellowship and smalll groups, Sunday School, and varied ministries help create and nurture. In fact, the majority of our attendees and members participate in one or more activities each week that help them to get to know others and also deepen their faith beyond Sunday services.
Here's some things you might want to know about your first visit.
Our Sunday worship services are held at 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM on the upper level of our building. An elevator enables the sanctuary to be handicap accessible from both the upper and lower parking lots. Our music is a blend of both hymns and contemporary modern worship songs that are expressed in a joyful worship style. Occasionally our services also include a musical selection from our adult choir or our Kidz 4 Him children's choir.
Both worship services on Sunday morning are identical. Typically, a West Shore worship service begins with an opening song and a few words of welcome from our pastoral staff. As we continue to worship in song you are invited to stand and sing, but you are welcome to sit if that is more comfortable for you.
After being seated, the congregation is led in prayer by the pastoral staff, followed by a musical selection from the worship team while our tithes and offerings are received. Please do not feel obligated to give as the offering plate is passed, but rather to receive the service as our gift to you.
When you arrive...
•We invite you to our Welcome Center located in the main lobby. You will find friendly folks there to greet you after both services. This is a wonderful place for you to ask questions and find out more about our church.
•Take your elementary age children to the Tiki Hut on the lower level where helpful people will explain and direct you to our Awesome Adventure classes.
•Bring your little ones to the Nursery and/or Preschool suites located on the upper level in the hallway near the stairs and elevator.
•Introduce your pre-teen or teenager to the leaders of the youth group, which meets at 10:45 AM in Room Y226 on the upper level.
•Visit an adult Fellowship Group. The Information Kiosk staff can tell you all about those groups.
•Go into the sanctuary for the worship service, where ushers will provide you with a newsletter and help you with seating, if you wish.
We want to know you! And what better way than to gather pastors and visitors together for an afternoon lunch? It's like a meet and greet but with great food and fellowship. Newcomers luncheons, held three times per year, are a great opportunity to learn about the church and its ministries directly from the pastoral staff. Advance reservations are required (notices are included in our church bulletin) or feel free to e-mail Marilyn Lesko for upcoming dates and times.
For the deaf and hard of hearing
The first service (9:00-10:15 AM) is interpreted in sign language for the deaf and hard of hearing. An area in the central portion of the stadium seating has been reserved for those needing sign interpretation as well as for their family and friends. Interpretation can also be arranged upon request for the 2nd Service by contacting the church office at office@westshorefree.org by the Thursday before it is needed.
