Men, as we continue talking about fatherhood and how to strengthen the bond between fathers and daughters and sons, you might be interested in this ongoing list of fun things to do with your child/teen—not as "tasks" to be marked off but as simple ideas for deepening relationships. Also, we invite you to add your ideas to this list. 1) Take to a favorite restaurant that becomes “the special place” for just the two of you. 2) Go play Paintball. 3) Show how to change a flat tire or wash the car. 4) Have them teach you their favorite video game. 5) Do a road trip to a professional sports event, or a world class mall (King of Prussia?). 6) Take them shopping. 7) Visit New York City. 8) Get an Ice Cream cone and “people watch.” 9) Share some favorite characters in the Bible –and why. 10) Visit the local Firehouse. 11) Teach them how to cook a steak on the grill. 12) Teach them how to fire a gun…or hunt…or fish. 13) Teach them what to look for in members of the opposite gender. 14) Read together. 15) Search for “good deals” with them (to show them wise stewardship). 16) Play in a sand pile with them –and break out your old matchbox cars. 17) Go out after dark on a prayer walk with them –or just to “sneak around” the yard. 18) Shovel a neighbor’s driveway or remove a widow’s “downed tree.” 19) Go apple picking. 20) Plant a tree or bush in the yard. 21) You name it . . . |

“We are constantly on a stretch, if not a strain, to devise new methods, new plans, new organizations to advance the church. This trend has a tendency to lose sight of the man or sink the man in the plan or organization.
God’s plan is to make much of the man, far more of him than of anything else. Men are God’s method.
The church is looking for better methods, God is looking for better men. What the church needs today is not more machinery or better…but men whom the Holy Ghost can use—men of prayer, men mighty in prayer.
The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men–men of prayer.
