Responding to Food Insecurity

Thanks for considering these opportunities to serve our community, as we seek the good of the West Shore & beyond…for the glory of Christ.

New Hope Ministries in Mechanicsburg

Volunteers will be working in each aisle with a guest (only 1 household member per appointment will be permitted into the building) pulling the food off the shelf that the guest chooses.  Food items will be handed to the guest for them to bag as they go.  Guests take their groceries to their cars and return the carts.  Volunteers will sanitize the carts before the next guest.

Pass: 5228
About 20 slots each week (some it’s 15, others 20)
Please sign up only one individual per slot. In order to follow the recommended guidelines, we cannot exceed the given number of volunteers.

New Hope Ministries is also in need of personal items. They’ve asked us to collect the following:

“Tissues, paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner (regular sizes, not the tiny hotel sizes), toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving cream, shavers, regular size soap, dish-soap, floss, aftershave, Q-tips, anything like that! We are also running low on napkins, paper plates, and plastic silverware. Thank you for your servant’s heart and for helping us help the community.”

If you have any of these items to bring, you may bring them Tuesday through Thursday from 9-4 p.m. to Mechanicsburg’s New Hope Ministries location. This is at 5228 E Trindle Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. Thank you!

Central PA Food Bank

The Food Bank provides food for the 2 locations above, as well as 400+ locations around PA. At a time of great food insecurity for many, Central PA Food Bank has relocated its packing operation to point to a location that will be made known after you complete your application to serve and are approved (usually within 24-48 hours). You’ll then be able to sign-up for a slot.

Please note: The Governor has granted an exception to the “stay at home” order specifically for food pantries so they can continue to serve our most vulnerable neighbors.
